Kedarkantha is one of the best winter treks to commence in the Himalayan region of Garhwal, Uttarakhand. If you are a snowbaby, then you might have an adrenaline rush as the place remains dunked in snow from December to April. Campsites are pitched in the vast clearings of the forest for the trekkers to soak in the beauty of the mountains. The highlights of this trek include Juda ka Talab and the view of Swargarohini peaks.

Kedarkantha is known for offering the best camping experience. One of the biggest reasons to set your foot on the Kedarkantha trail is that it boasts the prettiest  campsites, like the Juda Ka Talab campsite amidst the clearing surrounded by walnut and pine trees. While the other one is the Kedarkantha Base Camp, which is an open meadow that offers an undisturbed view of the Kedarkantha summit.

The drive to Kedarkantha is amazing as it cross many famous places which will make your sojourn wonderful. You’ll cross Mussoorie and Dehradun which are two of the famous places located in the heart of Uttarakhand. Enjoy the scintillating views of the Mountain Queen and feast your eyes on the warm culture of Garhwal. Eat scrumptious Pahadi cuisines and open your heart to new experiences.

Travel Distance: 200 KM approx
Time Taken: 8-10 Hours
Max Altitude: 6400 ft.

• Meet us early morning in Dehradun. Pick-Up Location: Near Railway Station, Dehradun.
• Start driving from Dehradun to Sankri along Yamuna and Tons river covering these beautiful location: Mussoorie, Kempty Falls, Naugaon, Purola, Mori, Naitwar.
• We’ll reach Sankri by evening.
• Accommodation in wooden homestay.

Trek Distance: 3.5 KM
Time Taken: 4 Hours
Max Altitude: 6400 ft.

• After Breakfast, We’ll start trekking from Sankri to Jainola (Our campsite before Juda Ka talab)
• Trek through the trail covered with dense pine forests, maple trees and water streams streams.
• Enjoy the beauty of vast meadows of Kedarkantha trek.
• Overnight stay in Camps

Trek Distance: 3.5 KM
Time Taken: 4-5 Hours
Max Altitude: 9,1000 ft.

• After enjoying the breakfast head towards the Kedarkantha base camp
• Stroll around the himalayan lake called ‘Juda ka Talab’. The lake is completely frozen during extreme winters.
• Step out of your campsite to witness stary sky and spectacular view of Milky way
• Witness the view of Bandarpoonch, Swargarohini, Kala Nag and Ranglana himalayan peaks standing among the others.
• Overnight stay in Campsite

 

Distance: 7 KM
Time Taken: 6-7 Hours
Max Altitude: 12,500 ft.

• Today we’ll start early in the morning, after breakfast start trekking towards summit.
• Witness the mesmerizing sunrise from 12,500 ft.
• Enjoy the jaw dropping 360° view of Himalayas.
• After spending some time at the summit and descend back to Campsite near Juda Ka talab (Jainola campsite)
• Overnight stay in Camps.

• After Breakfast, We’ll start descending to Sankri.

How To Reach?

Nearest Airport –  Jolly Grant Airport Dehradun. ( 213 kms far from Sankri)

  • There is a daily flight from Delhi to Dehradun, which take around an hour to reach the city. 

 

Nearest Railway Station – Dehradun Railway Station. (187 kms far from Sankri)

  • You can take the overnight train to Dehradun from Delhi. 

 

Nearest ISBT: ISBT Dehradun

  • There is regular bus service from Delhi to Dehradun, from Delhi’s ISBT Kashmere Gate.

 

How to reach Sankri?

Sankri is approx 200 KM far from Dehradun. You can book a taxi or share ride in local vehicle to reach Sankri. 

We can also arrange vehicle for you from Dehradun to Sankri and return at an extra cost.

• If cancellations are made 30 days before the start date of the trip, 15% of total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.

• If cancellations are made within 30-15 days before the start date of the trip, 50% of total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.

• If cancellations are made within 15-0 days before the start date of the trip, 100% of total tour cost will be charged as cancellation fees.

• In case of unforeseen weather conditions or government restrictions, certain activities may be cancelled and in such cases the operator will try his best to provide an alternate feasible activity. However no refund will be provided for the same.

Refund Policy:
The applicable refund amount will be processed within 10 business days. 2% of total amount will be deducted as bank processing fees.

• Sturdy hiking boots: with good ankle support. If you do not own a pair yet, it is advisable that you buy one as soon as possible & wear it often so that they are well broken. This will help prevent blisters.
• Hiking Bag
• Light weight tennis shoes/sandals: for wearing in camp.
• Wool socks: 2 pairs: preferably thick wool socks.
• Nylon socks: 2-3 Pairs, of the type you wear daily to be worn under the wool socks to prevent blister.
• Hiking shirt/T-shirt: 2 Preferably long sleeve
• Warm shirts & pants for camp: 1 each
• Rain Coat/Poncho: 1 each
• Warm Jacket: 1
• Woolen gloves : 1 pairs as thick as available in the market.
• Under wear: 2-3 changes • Hiking shorts/pants: 1
• Sun hat: Cotton or nylon.
• Sun Glasses : Preferably with an anchor
• Sun Protection Lotion. Lip balm/chap stick
• Water bottle: 2 Bottles of 1 Liter capacity. (Carry 1 Thermos flask)
• Head lamp/flashlight: Preferably a headlamp as it leaves your hands free to work please bring extra batteries.
• Toiletries: Tooth brush/paste, toilet paper, soap. etc
